A member of Remedy Entertainment reaffirms the studio’s mission in making Alan Wake 2 look incredible, hoping to make the best-looking game of the year. After its initial announcement back in 2021, gamers finally got a look at Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming survival horror sequel. Alan Wake 2‘s PlayStation Showcase trailer revealed a lot of new aspects about the game, including a new playable character, a supporting cast, and gameplay. One thing that blew many people away was the visuals, being a sharp upgrade from the first game, with a more photorealistic look.

This new trailer for Alan Wake 2 was very reminiscent of other survival horror games, such as the Resident Evil 2 remake and its sequels. Shortly after this trailer dropped, Remedy Entertainment has been rather communicative with its fans about some of its content, such as its Deluxe Edition and pre-order bonuses. Some members of the studio also clarified some details about the presentation, such as communications director Thomas Puha, who stated that the game was run entirely on PS5 hardware.

This statement also comes with the claim that Remedy Entertainment is looking to make the best-looking game of 2023. Puha refers to a previous statement made in 2021, where he reiterates that their goal was to make Alan Wake 2 the ‘most beautiful’ looking game of Remedy’s entire library. He states that they really pushed the graphical fidelity of this game, while also making the aforementioned claim. This sentiment was agreed upon by the comments underneath Puha’s post, where many agreed that Alan Wake 2 is looking incredible.

Fans under Puha’s post had complimented the studio for the game’s incredible attention to detail, along with maintaining an atmosphere that greatly fit Alan Wake 2‘s new survival horror mold. Others hoped these could be maintained across all versions including Xbox and PC, which is a growing concern among gamers since there have been a number of games that have had buggy or unoptimized launches in recent months. Puha assures fans that it will look incredible on those other platforms as well. According to Puha, there is an early version of this trailer that was made back on November 22, 2022. He hopes one day that they will release a comparison of the two trailers later down the line.

In other news related to the sequel, Remedy Entertainment has announced that it will be going digital-only for Alan Wake 2, which has drawn the ire of some fans. So much so that THQ Nordic volunteered to help foot the bill to help publish the survival horror game physically. Regardless, players will get to see the fruits of Remedy Entertainment’s ambitions later this October.
