Diablo Fan Shows Off Impressive Prime Evil Model

Diablo fans have had a lot of reasons to talk about the franchise lately, causing a resurgence of fan artwork. One fan recently showed off a custom model they had made of the Prime Evil Diablo as he appeared in Diablo 3.

The statue was shown off by CubbyNINJA on both the Diablo and 3D Printing Reddit. It took them almost two weeks to print, assemble, and paint the model, which was designed by ZeroSwat. However, the results of their work were nothing short of amazing.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

CubbyNINJA’s statue is incredibly detailed and accurate to depictions of Diablo in artwork and in-game. The menacing model stands at nearly 18 inches and could be easily mistaken for an official model at first glance. In fact, the quality of the statue is comparable to Sideshow Collectible’s Limited Edition Prime Evil Diablo statue.

According to CubbyNINJA, the Diablo model itself was printed from 32 individual pieces on their modified Ender5Plus 3D printer. They used ArmyPainter SpeedPaints, including special UV-sensitive paints to evoke the glowing hellfire effects on the Prime Evil’s face and chest. The 3D-printable model is available on cgtrader for 35$, which is much cheaper than the Sideshow Collectible’s $350 official alternative pictured below.

The Diablo 3 fans who saw CubbyNINJA’s work were astonished by the quality of their work. Diablo’s Prime Evil appearance in Diablo 3 was a drastic and unexpected shift from his typical appearance. While this appearance was polarizing, with some fans loving his new look and others disliking it, everyone agreed CubbyNINJA captured it perfectly.

Sanctuary has been on the tip of everyone’s tongues, with two different Diablo titles making headlines for very different reasons. The recently-released mobile game Diablo Immortal has received much criticism, with a predatory business model built over an otherwise solid Diablo game. However, Diablo 4 finally revealed new information, including a fifth class and a release window in 2023, during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase.

Diablo has been the final boss of every main Diablo game since the original release in 1996. That said, he met his apparent final end in Diablo 3, meaning Diablo 4 may be the first full Diablo game that does not feature the eponymous Lord of Terror directly. It currently seems the role of main antagonist in Diablo 4 will be performed by Lilith. However, players thought the same thing when Diablo 3 was announced, with Azmodan featured heavily in cinematics and marketing, and yet he was not the final villain. Players will have to see if the Lord of Terror himself will find a way to return in Diablo 4–and if he does, what appearance he will take next.

Diablo 3 is available on Mac, PC, PS3, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One
