Dead by Daylight Update 6.0.1 is Available to Download Now

Behaviour Interactive continues its aggressive schedule of content updates for Dead by Daylight this week with the release of its new 6.0.1 updates for the asymmetric multiplayer horror game. While Dead by Daylight didn’t have any major announcements for June this year, it’s still planning a second half of the year packed with content. 6.0.1 is an update that will lay the groundwork for what’s newly arrived, as the Twisted Masquerade event begins in Dead by Daylight.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Twisted Masquerade is a new limited-time Dead by Daylight event that is, as of this posting, now available. The event is a celebration of Dead by Daylight‘s sixth anniversary and includes a special Twisted Masquerade Event Tome for players to complete. There are also a variety of special rewards, including 12 masquerade masks, outfits, and charms, as well as thematic changes to Dead by Daylight‘s maps to add some anniversary cheer. It’s unclear exactly when the Twisted Masquerade will end.

As for the meat of Dead by Daylight update 6.0.1, there are dozens of fixes to a variety of bugs that have been lingering in the game for some time. For example, on occasion the Cannibal’s chainsaw would be silent to Survivors, or The Dredge’s smoke would be missing. Some fixes are also quite complicated, like an issue causing the Play With Your Food perk to not consume a token when injuring a Survivor using a Possessed Chain with the Cenobite’s Engineer’s Fang add-on. Don’t worry, though, these bugs have all been fixed.

There are, however, some specific issues that Behaviour acknowledges that it hasn’t been able to correct yet. Two specific focuses were mentioned in the 6.0.1 update notes. First, and most importantly, is an increase in reports of rubber-banding since the 5.7.0 update. The second issue is that Dead by Daylight may crash during its tutorial bot match while the game is still downloading.

Long story short, update 6.0.1 for Dead by Daylight is a reminder that Behaviour is both focused on continuing to add exciting new content to the game even now, six years after launch, and that it’s dedicated to maintaining the game despite frequent new content additions. The Twisted Masquerade and patch 6.0.1 aren’t major changes to Dead by Daylight, but they’ll keep things fresh up until the next update.

It’s easy to forget that Dead by Daylight just had a major update, Roots of Dread update 6.0.0, a week ago. Behavior introduced a new killer in The Dredge and a new Survivor in Haddie Kaur. Now it’s adding an anniversary event on top of the all of 6.0.0’s exciting new content. Then there’s the Dead by Daylight Year 7 roadmap promising even more chapters and events in the months to come. It’s a good time to be a Dead by Daylight fan.

Dead by Daylight is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
