Capcom Planning Closed Network Test for Exoprimal

During Capcom’s recent June gaming showcase, it featured several games from its major franchises. That included several titles from the Resident Evil series, as well as Street Fighter 6. Just as prominent in the show, however, was a showcase of Exoprimal, Capcom’s upcoming co-op multiplayer game based on an entirely new IP. Capcom clearly believes Exoprimal has a lot of potential. It’s perhaps no surprise then that Capcom wants players to try it out soon, starting with a series of Closed Network Tests.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Closed Network Tests are, by definition, limited to a relatively low number of players with the express intention of testing specific technical aspects of a game, and Exoprimal is no different in that regard. Capcom fans can register for an invitation via the official Exoprimal website, though invitations will be rare. Capcom has stated that these tests will be used to “improve the quality” of Exoprimal” in order to deliver a “smooth gameplay experience” at launch.

This will also be the first opportunity for Capcom fans to try Exoprimal for themselves, too. It’s an opportunity to see exactly what kind of game Capcom can deliver in a genre it doesn’t have any real experience in. It’s a way to see what kind of dinosaur game Exoprimal is now that it’s confirmed it has nothing to do with Dino Crisis (despite revolving around dinosaur crises).

Capcom has officially confirmed three different Closed Network Tests for Exoprimal for the time being. All three tests will be limited to PC players. The first is for US/Canada only and takes place in less than a month, on July 11, lasting just three hours total. The second test will be available worldwide and will run on July 25 for six total hours. The third and final test will run on August 7 and will be available for 24 total hours, giving some a full day to test Exoprimal‘s online servers.

While these three tests are all that Capcom has announced up to this point, that doesn’t mean it won’t do further testing at a later date. These tests end in August while Exoprimal will be launching in 2023, after all. Perhaps Capcom will run further beta tests in the leadup to launch to build anticipation for the game.

There’s a lot left to be said about Exoprimal even before these Closed Network Tests arrive. The full extent of content available within the tests, or even if the players in them will have permission to speak publicly, is yet to be confirmed. Regardless, there’s a good amount of anticipation building for what’s become one of Capcom’s biggest upcoming releases, and every opportunity to learn more about the game will be welcomed.

Exoprimal releases in 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
