Minecraft Player Builds Deadly Arrow Machine

Most people tend to think of Minecraft as being a game of relaxation and creativity, but one user decides to build a device that can one-hit kill.

Video games are, for many, a way to relax and unwind. Take Minecraft as the go-to example when it comes to stress-relieving titles. In fact, studies show that some games like Skyrim are great for mindfulness, with the Mojang-made open sandbox world being one of the best cases. However, that isn’t to say that there aren’t some dangers present within the blocky universe. And, in fact, one user has actually gone out of their way to make one of the most deadly contraptions they could conceive of.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In a recent post on the Minecraft subReddit, user Malorem has managed to build a machine that can not only one-hit kill a player, but can do so in a 20-block radius. A short clip on the thread shows the machine in the middle of the field. When the original poster activates it with a switch on top, they then scarper to a “safe” distance before it goes off, and still ends up killing them in one go despite them being covered in full protection. They also posted a link to a longer video which explains how it works and what was used to create it.

In the video, Malorem discusses a way for players to defend their base, and in doing so, ends up building something that is extremely deadly, which they refer to in the description as a “redstone weapon.” Redstone in Minecraft is extremely useful, and in this instance, it seems to serve as a way to rid a wide area of potential enemies. The contraption is built using a small pool of water with an obsidian surrounding. Then arrows are placed in the water, and a series of TNT mine carts in the middle, placed on an activator rail. Once a switch is activated, the mine carts explode, sending all the arrows flying in every direction.

The result is a weapon that has the power to kill in a sort of wide blast radius. The only downside seems to be that the operator must actually press a switch on the machine and then make a run for it. Perhaps they will come up with a way to operate it from afar, but for a game that is relaxing to play, this is one of the most deadly machines players can create.

Minecraft users are always keen to show off their impressive builds, as well as their skills. It’s part and parcel of why the game has managed to stay as one of the most successful IPs in recent gaming history. It also shows that this tranquil and creative title can become the subject of explosive warfare.

Minecraft is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
