Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Subscribers Get New Halo Infinite Warthog Coating This Month

Owners of Halo Infinite who are subscribed to Xbox’s Ultimate Game Pass are receiving a new coating to apply to their warthogs.

Though Halo Infinite players have taken issue with customization since launch, the game includes many different ways for players to customize their appearance. This includes their armor, weapons, and even vehicles, making Halo Infinite a unique visual experience that players can customize to their liking.

The latest of these Halo Infinite customization options is a new coating coming to the warthog, adding another look to the Halo Infinite vehicle’s expanding arsenal. However, the new look is only available to players who are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, making this an exclusive item.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The news about the new Halo Infinite color coating was broken by the official Halo Twitter account, who noted that the coating can be claimed via the perks gallery on Xbox or PC, or via the Xbox Game Pass mobile app. The tweet also states that the coating is just one of many monthly bonuses players can experience if they decide to subscribe to the Ultimate Game Pass.

Unfortunately, the tweet received an overall cold reception. One user commented that this new coating would be the 4th coating for the warthog in a shade of green, also adding that they would love to see any sort of variety for colors in the future. Another user replied to the tweet and said that new maps need to be added; currently, there are 10 total maps in the game, but some maps are exclusive to certain game modes. Yet another user replied that the skin looks good, but that they would really appreciate a roadmap detailing where Halo Infinite is headed in the coming year.

Since launch, Halo Infinite has performed well, with players and review outlets alike praising Halo Infinite for its campaign and multiplayer alike. However, the playerbase is taking issue with the monetization practices. Now, with an exclusive warthog coating being locked behind a monthly subscription wall outside of the game, more fuel has been added to that narrative.

Tying other products into a game’s monetization is nothing new: many players can recall when Mountain Dew and Doritos featured XP codes for Call of Duty games, and 343 already partnered with brands to put Halo Infinite codes on products. In the meantime, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can continue to expect exclusive cosmetics from the game.

Halo Infinite is out now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
