Halo Infinite Video Shows Just How Inaccurate the Multiplayer Countdown Timer Is

One gamer makes a surprising discovery after they decide to test the accuracy of the multiplayer countdown timer found in Halo Infinite.

The last couple of months have been an interesting time for 343 Industries and the Halo franchise, to say the least. Halo Infinite was released to an enormous amount of hype from Halo fans and critics in December. However, numerous issues have started to appear in the months following its launch. As a result, the player base has started to become frustrated with the game.

While the core gameplay mechanics in Halo Infinite are regarded by many as positive steps in the right direction for the franchise, players have encountered a plethora of technical problems that have threatened to ruin the gameplay experience. Some of these issues encountered by Halo fans include desync and poor matchmaking. Despite 343 Industries releasing several patches to fix these problems, bugs continue to be discovered, such as one relating to the countdown timer for multiplayer matches.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In a post on Reddit, a user known as yeesh shared a video of them playing Halo Infinite. According to the player, they wanted to show that the multiplayer timer was bugged. To illustrate this point, they recorded their television as they held a smartphone in front of the camera. They intended to use the stopwatch app to test the accuracy of the countdown timer in the multiplayer lobby screen of the game.

To put this to the test, they started the stopwatch on their phone at the same time they began the timer on Halo Infinite. The results were interesting, to say the least. Surprisingly, according to the smartphone, it took the multiplayer timer over 5 seconds to countdown. This indicated that it was inaccurate. While this time discrepancy was not a big deal, it served as a reminder to many fans of the broken state of some of the systems in Halo Infinite.

Since posting this video of the inaccurate multiplayer countdown timer on Reddit, numerous members of the Halo Infinite community have taken notice. With over 17.7K upvotes in only a day, many players commented that they were just as frustrated about the bug as yeesh–. In addition, some pointed out there were limitations while searching for a multiplayer match. For example, players could not navigate to another menu while the timer counted down, as it would back them out of the queue.

It will be interesting to see if the developers are able to fix this bug in Halo Infinite in the weeks ahead. In other news, the developers at 343 Industries finally gave impatient fans a glimpse at the roadmap for 2022. While the name of Season 2 “Lone Wolves” was unveiled, the update also included some disappointing news. According to the developers, campaign co-op is being delayed again.

Halo Infinite is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
