Call of Duty: Warzone Players Ask Devs to Remove Planes from Vanguard Royale Permanently

Raven Software has temporarily removed planes from Call of Duty: Warzone’s Vanguard Royale playlists, and some hope the removal becomes permanent.

Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific shook things up in some major ways, ranging from the new Caldera map to significant adjustments to mechanics like Loadouts and the Gulag. It also introduced planes, a mechanic that many Call of Duty: Warzone players dislike – and one that some gamers want to be permanently removed.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s planes take on two forms. The original plane features a turret that allows for some dogfighting to take place, though many have used this feature to harass gamers attempting to play a normal match on the island below. Alongside players nosediving and downing enemies on the ground with the basic plane, the Bomber planes that were added during Season 2 provide a more direct way for pilots to impact the fighting below. Like their name suggests, players can drop bombs that deal damage to those below while also destroying Loadout drops.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

While Call of Duty: Warzone’s Bomber and basic plane were marketed as some of the most exciting additions, most gamers have not approved of the vehicles. Previously, vehicles were limited to trucks, bikes, and helicopters, something that players found to be much more enjoyable. As such, despite fitting the theme well, many were thrilled to see the planes removed from the Vanguard Royale playlist in the game’s latest update. While Raven Software confirmed this was a temporary removal since the planes were causing crashes, gamers were quick to respond.

Before long, Redditors and Call of Duty: Warzone players like Nintendo_Pro_03 were saying that the vehicles should not return at all. The post from Nintendo_Pro_03 received over 500 upvotes, showing that many are behind the idea of a permanent removal of planes. The comments reflected these feelings, with nedimiedin saying they hope the issue is unfixable so that the aerial vehicles cannot return. Throughout the comments, more posts like this can be seen.

To be fair, it is worth noting that there are some in the comments saying that they love flying the planes and using their weaponry, so there is not unanimous hate for the vehicle type. However, while gamers like dells16 argue that the planes are not that strong and deserve less hate, raiderrocker18 makes the great point that plane-related complaints are not always about their damage output. Sometimes, Call of Duty: Warzone’s contracts will select someone in a plane, ensuring players fall behind on the all-important process of gathering cash.

It will be interesting to see if Raven Software acknowledges this criticism or continues to keep planes around for those that enjoy them. While separate Call of Duty: Warzone playlists featuring planes could be a good solution, right now fans will just have to wait and see what happens with the vehicle type.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
