Bethesda has released the first post-launch update for Starfield, its massive sci-fi RPG that launched earlier this month to mostly positive reviews from critics. Starfield has been a big hit so far, breaking records for Bethesda and helping push Xbox console sales. Despite the general positivity surrounding Starfield, though, there is certainly always room for improvement.
Starfield has its fair share of glitches that fans have had to deal with since launch. Many agree that Starfield has the fewest bugs out of any Bethesda game so far, but there are still some issues that have cropped up. Luckily, some of those issues are being targeted in the latest Starfield update, which is available to download right now for PC gamers and those across Xbox Series X and S consoles.
Starfield update 1.7.29 makes stability improvements when installing the Xbox Series X/S versions of the game, along with general stability and performance improvements across the board to reduce crashes and improve the game’s framerate. Additionally, bugs impacting three of Starfield‘s quests have been fixed in the new update. The quests All That Money Can Buy, Into the Unknown, and Shadows in Neon should now be much smoother experiences for Starfield players.
Bethesda has many future updates planned for Starfield as well, and it offered fans a glimpse at what’s coming to the game down the line alongside the update 1.7.29 patch notes. Future Starfield updates will be adding brightness and contrast controls, an HDR calibration menu, an FOV slider, Nvidia DLSS support for the PC version, 32:9 ultrawide monitor support for the PC version, and a button to instantly eat food instead of having to store it in one’s inventory.
Those looking for more substantial new Starfield content have a lot to look forward to as well. Bethesda has already confirmed that there will be at least two Starfield expansions, with the first one called Shattered Space. It should be noted that the Starfield premium DLC will not be available for free to Xbox Game Pass subscribers, but anyone that opted to pick up the Premium Edition Upgrade to get early access will get them.
